長い鉄の針の角度はこの場所の緯度にあわせて北極星を指している。大きな日時計なんだけど1日24時間という時計ジカンではないんだ。落ちていく影を見ながら、つかの間、地球の自転や宇宙の時間とともにうつろっていく人生の 時間を知る装置なんだな。

The angle of the long hand is adjusted to the site’s latitude and points to the Pole Star. It is a sundial, but its purpose is not to tell 24 hour clock time. It is a device to guide thoughts toward one’s life time, as it sways about riding with universal time and the earth’s rotation, while observing one's own lengthening shadow.
